Description

Patent claims define the technological scope of protection of a patent. They specify the technical features that a product or process must possess to fall within the scope of patent protection. The scope of protection is determined by the patent claims and covers all embodiments that satisfy every feature of a given claim. Independent claims define the invention in broad, general terms, while dependent claims add further limitations and thereby narrow the scope of protection. Multiple independent claims may be used to protect different aspects of the same invention independently.
